Modicum Skin Care was created as a result of my passion for nutrition and wellness, which I have been cultivating my entire life. I professed to my mother at thirteen that I was going to become a vegetarian. She said “Okay, but first you have to read Diet For A Small Planet, so you can understand why you want to be a vegetarian.” My mother stoked my nascent interest in how and what helps our bodies keep themselves balanced. In her fifties she was diagnosed with cancer, but through lifestyle (yoga and meditation) and diet (vegetarian and macrobiotic) she managed to rid herbody of cancerous cells completely. Her transformation further inspired my perspective on health and our individual power to cultivate it. And it changed my whole family’s—which includes 8 siblings!
A few years ago I had a health scare of my own. While snowmobiling in the Canadian Rockies, my craft plunged into a deep crevasse at full speed. I awoke from unconsciousness with several broken bones and lacerations on my face and neck. I worried that lacerations to my face would leave me with permanent nerve damage and scars. Plastic surgery was recommended. During my convalescence, I applied a serum of my own invention based on the fundamentals of plant chemistry I had studied. These essential oils and chemical building blocks allowed my skin to rejuvenate naturally, leaving no visible scars—without surgery. I knew I had to share this knowledge with the world. This was the beginning of Modicum.
Healthy is Beautiful
In developing Modicum, I brought on board a team of cosmetic chemists to help me create and refine my formulas to maximize regeneration. The healing principles of Modicum are based on my years of research on how to bring my health perspective to the skin. Here is what I have learned:
Natural plant based products have amazing healing properties. They can be far more effective for cellular regeneration than any chemical based products.
If we want our skin to be its most vital then we should treat it with love and feed it what it needs from the inside and the outside.
A simple regime is all it takes. Healthy skin doesn’t require a suitcase or vanity full of products!
Now, Modicum is part of the “Health and Beauty” world. But to me health is true beauty. When I feel good inside, I feel radiant and beautiful. When I look at others and see that radiance, I know it flows from the inside.
For me creating is living. I couldn't be more proud of the products we have created at Modicum. They are all I imagined them to be, and they truly work! Thank you for being a part of this beautiful experience.
